THE NEW INN - Walney Island

Biggar Village, Walney-Island, Barrow-in-Furness, Lancashire.

Opening in 1869 the New Inn became one of the last houses in Barrow to obtain a licence under the 1830 beerhouses act, but never succumb to the same success as it's neighboring Queens Arms. The New Inn was purchased by Thompson's Brewery in 1929 and continued it's business until April 1973 when it was reverted to a dwelling house.
